Pre-vocational Services
Community / Center Based Pre-Vocational Services
Oklahoma Center of Empowerment, Inc. (OCoE) community support programs assist people with disabilities in gaining full membership of the community. This is accomplished through a mix of social, vocational and community-based activities. We provide a caring and competent approach for healthcare solutions, and distribution. With our certified and compassionate staff, we encourage independence, happiness, comfort and a professional level of care.
Center Based
Oklahoma Center of Empowerment (OCoE) Center-Based Pre-Vocational Services are provided to a group of individuals, with the majority of clients (service recipient) having severe disabilities.
Center-Based activities are provided in select pre-determined settings, related to the individual client’s (service recipient) employment outcome.
Center-Based Activities will include the following:
- Paid contract work in a center-based setting;
- Team-prescribed therapy programs, which will be implemented by staff in a center-based setting;
- Unpaid training in a select center-based environment;
- Paid work experience in a select center-based environment;
- GED preparation, interviewing skills, job club training, computer classes, and/or other training in which all participants are individuals with disabilities.
Community Based
Oklahoma Center for Empowerment, Inc. (OCoE) Community-Based Services promote independence, integration, and economic development, based on the client’s age and culture appropriate choice.
Community-Based Services are provided to groups of five or fewer clients, targeting community-integrated experience, based on individualized employment-related support.
Employment-related support includes participation in the following:
- Job tours with local employers
- Job shadowing with local employers
- Volunteering
- Paid or unpaid work experience in a community integrated setting
- Direct support for service recipients seeking skills training provided by a trade and/or vocational school, community college, as well as other community organizations.
- Integrated settings stamina-enhancing programs
- Transportation to and from Community-Based Services
- Appropriate breaks and lunches
- Utilization of Workforce Oklahoma services, in addition to attending local job fairs
Employment Options
All activities are geared toward the following employment options:
- Full-time employment of service recipient’s informed choice with natural supports.
- If one full-time job is not feasible, then two part-time jobs equating to one full-time job.
- If employment is not currently available, short-term unpaid training and/or volunteering in accordance with the Department of Labor; additionally, resume development, job exploration, and/or short-term center-based activities.
